Jackson Fire Department Recruitment & Testing
We are pleased to announce that recruitment and testing for the Jackson Fire Department will begin immediately. We will be hosting monthly open house events for all individuals interested in a career with the department, followed by physical agility testing.
Recruitment Schedule:
Orientation & Open House (attendance is not required, but encouraged for information regarding a career with the Jackson Fire Department)

Firefighter Training
What It Takes to Be a Firefighter
As a firefighter, you’ll be at the heart of action, engaging in firefighting, fire prevention, and emergency medical services to save lives and protect property. Your role will also include:
- Firefighting, fire prevention, and first responder emergency services
- Routine maintenance of equipment and facilities
- Providing first aid and support to injured individuals
- Ongoing training to enhance your skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least 18 years of age
- Valid driver’s license
- Vision corrected to 20/20
- U.S. citizenship
Requirements
- Entrance Exam (score must be at least 70)
- In-depth Background Investigation
- Physical Ability Test
- Physical Exam (must satisfactorily pass after offer of employment)
- Drug Screen (must satisfactorily pass after offer of employment)
- Treadmill Evaluation (must satisfactorily pass after offer of employment)
